YPs, Makciks Feature in Singapore-Focused NFT Collection for National Day

A free NFT collection is being launched to celebrate Singapore National Day 2022. Titled “We Are SG” (WASG), the project features 9,822 NFTs created by Singaporeans, for Singaporeans.

WASG NFTs are designed to depict everyday Singaporeans ranging from national service men, delivery drivers to cigarette uncles.

“Featuring real-life benefits, our project aims to make NFTs relevant to all kiasus and kaypohs through an ownership experience that captures all there is to know and love about the +65,” the project’s website reads.

Each Singaprean trait is created as a layer, with the 9,822 artworks generated from a combination of these layers.

The project is launched by marketing agency GERMS Digital and powered by payments provider Alchemy Pay.

To mint the NFTs, users only need to pay Ethereum gas fees. 12 of the 9,822 NFTs are highly unique and limited with one-of-one traits.

Minting begins on 9 August 2022 via WeAreSG.io to coincide with Singapore National Day.

James Chua, GERMS, Managing Director said that “businesses can use this new NFT project as an opportunity to target new audiences beyond their traditional marketing channels”.
