Ex-StraitsX Head Joins KPMG as Fazz Exec Takes Reins at Payments Firm

The Singapore-based co-creator at StraitsX is starting a new position as Director - Crypto, Blockchain at KPMG Singapore.

Aymeric Salley has joined KPMG as its director, crypto and blockchain, based in Singapore.

Salley joined the professional services firm this week after over three years at digital assets payments infrastructure firm StraitsX, where he was co-creator and head.

Launched in 2020, StraitsX issues the Singapore Dollar-backed stablecoin, XSGD & Indonesian Rupiah-backed stablecoin. It is also a Major Payment Institution licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

"Time has come for StraitsX to enter its next phase of growth under a new leadership, and for me to take on a new challenge that I’ll be happy to share in a separate post in the near future," Salley said in a LinkedIn post last week.

According to KPMG's Pulse of Fintech report for the second half of 2022, crypto or Blockchain was the top area of fintech investment in Singapore in 2022. Crypto-related funding in the city-state reach $1.2 billion in 2022, down 21% from the year before.

Fazz Exec Takes Over

Taking over Salley's role at StraitsX is Kenny Chan, who was previously SVP of strategy, investor relations, and fundraising at Fazz.

Formerly Fazz Financial Group, Fazz is the result of a merger between PayFazz and Xfers. StraitsX joined the Fazz ecosystem in August 2022 as its digital asset infrastructure arm.

Before joining Fazz in June 2022, Chan spent over 5 years at superapp Grab, most recently holding the role of head of corporate strategy, and three years as a senior consultant at Oliver Wyman in New York.
