Crypto Stocks Post Double-Digit Weekly Gains as Bitcoin Nears $80,000, With Circle the Outlier

Strategy, Coinbase and MARA all posted double-digit weekly gains that tracked Bitcoin almost directly, while Circle fell on stablecoin-competition worries even after a strong week of its own.

Crypto-adjacent equities had their strongest week in years as Bitcoin's climb toward $80,000 pulled treasury companies, exchanges and miners higher in tandem, though not every stock in the group moved the same way.

Strategy (MSTR), the Bitcoin treasury company formerly known as MicroStrategy, gained 29% for the week, its best run in years. Coinbase (COIN) rose 25%, Circle Internet Group (CRCL) climbed 22%, Marathon (MARA) added 21%, and Robinhood (HOOD) gained 13% over the same stretch.

The moves tracked Bitcoin's advance from the low $60,000s earlier in August to a high above $81,000 this week. Spot Bitcoin ETFs extended their run to a seventh consecutive day of net inflows on August 24, pulling in more than $2.5 billion over that stretch and lifting combined fund assets to $98.6 billion from $78.7 billion a week earlier, according to Sosovalue dat.

How much each stock moved reflects how directly it's tied to Bitcoin's price rather than to trading activity or diversified revenue. Strategy holds roughly 843,775 Bitcoin against a market capitalization near $42 billion, with a beta to the broader market above 3.5, so its equity moves nearly in lockstep with the token.

Marathon, which holds a far smaller Bitcoin position and has been diversifying into AI and data-center infrastructure, moved less on a per-day basis despite its strong weekly total. Coinbase earns fees on trading volume rather than marking a treasury to market, so Bitcoin reaches its business through activity and volatility rather than balance-sheet appreciation.

Robinhood's gain came with a catalyst beyond Bitcoin. The stock rose 6% on August 25 alone after Bernstein published projections estimating the prediction-markets industry, a business Robinhood has been expanding into, could reach $1 trillion in annual trading volume by 2030, according to CryptoTimes.

Circle Internet Group was the outlier. Even after climbing 22% for the week, the stock fell roughly 7% on August 25 amid renewed caution over stablecoin regulatory scrutiny, and remains down more than 70% from the all-time high it set shortly after its 2025 listing. The stock has also been under pressure since Open Standard launched a rival stablecoin, Open USD, in June, backed by Visa, Mastercard and more than 140 other companies, that directly threatens the reserve-interest income that has generated the bulk of Circle's revenue.

The spread across the group, from Strategy's 29% weekly gain to Circle's single-day reversal, suggests this rally is being priced as a Bitcoin story more than a broad crypto-industry one. Whether that holds may depend on if ETF inflows keep pace with Bitcoin's climb, or if this week's gains prove as fragile as most of 2026's other rallies have been.
