NFT project Pudgy Penguins makes its famed soft toy debut into Malaysia, meanwhile Zetrix doubles down into its trade relationship with China & Quurk Studios team up with MDEC launch its innovative Learn-to-code-to-earn game, Pastopia.

Leading NFT project Pudgy Penguins continue its global expansion into the the digital collectibles and soft toy market as it debuts in Malaysia with the support of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Asia Huddle PLT.

First launched in July 2021, Pudgy Toys smashed its Amazon debut, achieving an astonishing USD$500,000 on the toy sales chart within 48 hours, surpassing industry giants such as Lego, Pokemon, Transformers, and Barbie in May 2023.

Cheryl Law, Pudgy Penguins business development lead for Asia, emphasised the brand's commitment to promoting intellectual property utilisation and enhancing consumer engagement to drive Malaysia’s business growth while empowering community members to partake in the journey.

Zetrix is now in the business of securing igital IDs on its blockchain

Malaysia’s e-government service provider, MY E.G. Services Berhad (MYEG), is joining forces with China’s state-owned Guangxi Beitou IT Innovation Technology Investment Group Co., Ltd. to pioneer an international digital identity credentials service using the Zetrix blockchain.

Unveiled at the recent China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, the partnership showcases a dapp that allows Chinese nationals to obtain a digitalized version of their driving licenses. These digital licenses are stored securely on the Zetrix blockchain as Verified Credentials, enabling users to validate their identities globally.

Chairman of Beitou IT Innovation, Shuiping Lai, emphasized the collaboration’s significance. “By leveraging blockchain’s immutability and data security, we are enhancing cross-border communications between China and ASEAN, ensuring legal compliance,” he stated.

MDEC Backs Quurk Studios to Equip Youths to Code Through Gaming

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation  (MDEC) and Quurk Studios announced a partnership to equipping Malaysian youths with essential coding skills. The collaboration aims to make coding a fundamental skill among young learners through Quurk's pioneer learn-to-earn game Pastopia. 

The game will introduce a systematic approach and design within Pastopia that transforms educational content and objectives into captivating gameplay. In Pastopia, actions within the game yield  specific, traceable, and tangible learning outcomes. 

In addition to their core partnership goals, MDEC and Quurk will continue to explore further opportunities within the technology industry network, focusing on extracurricular  integration, teacher training, outreach and awareness, learning and resources, and  community engagement. 

The joint endeavor holds the promise of nurturing a new  generation of tech-savvy leaders, propelling Malaysia to become the digital hub of ASEAN. Quurk will showcase the game at the Malaysia Digital Content Festival from  29 September to 1 October 2023.
