Samsung Wallet Adds USDC on Sui for Galaxy Users in US

The launch gives a stablecoin native placement on up to 82 million US devices, though at launch users can only hold and send USDC, and the announcement does not say how they will get it into the wallet.

Samsung Wallet now supports USDC on the Sui blockchain for eligible Galaxy devices in the US, the Sui Foundation announced on October 8. The integration covers up to 82 million US Galaxy devices, with other markets to follow at an unspecified date.

Users can hold and send USDC directly within Samsung Wallet. USDC is the only asset supported at launch, and the SUI token is not available. Sui's gasless stablecoin transfers mean users pay no network fee and do not need to hold SUI to move dollars.

"Stablecoins have the potential to make moving money around the world faster and easier," said Woncheol Chai, head of the digital wallet team in Samsung Electronics' mobile business.

Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer of Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui, said that "stablecoins have proven that dollars can move globally in seconds."

The announcement settles details Samsung left open in July, when it showed a Samsung Wallet mockup holding USDC at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London but gave no chain, issuer or launch date. Choosing Sui over Ethereum, Solana or Base hands a high-profile distribution win to a network that has been courting payments use cases. Sui says it has processed more than $1 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume since August 2025.

Several practical questions remain. The announcement does not say how users fund their USDC balance, whether through a bank, a card or an exchange integration, or whether the wallet is self-custodial. It also describes the feature in terms of sending money and remittances, with no mention of paying merchants through Samsung Pay, which is where a phone wallet's distribution would matter most. Circle is not named as a partner, although native USDC has been live on Sui since 2024.

The 82 million figure measures potential reach. How many Galaxy owners actually fund a USDC balance will depend largely on the on-ramp, which Samsung and Sui have yet to describe.
