Will the Equities Bull Run Continue Into 2024?

Reflecting on a year of significant gains and landmark rallies, global stocks closed 2023 with their best performance since 2019, driven by megacap tech firms and expectations of easing central bank policies. But will the ongoing bull run in the stock market to sustain its momentum into 2024?

On the year's final trading day, global stocks declined, but they still saw their largest yearly gain since 2019.

In the year's final two months, global stock prices surged due to a decline in benchmark bond rates, which was attributed to anticipation of rate reduction by central banks in 2024.

The S&P 500 dropped by around 0.3% on Friday, falling just short of the all-time closing high set on January 3, 2022.

This year's huge gain in megacap tech firms helped the index end up with gains of around 24%.
