Singapore Blockchain Week to Explore “Web3 and Beyond” at July Conference

Singapore Blockchain Week 2022, organized by Blockchain Association Singapore, will run from July 25-29. The government-sponsored blockchain event is one of the largest of its kind in Asia and brings together industry leaders, academics, innovators and government and regulatory bodies to collaborate regionally and internationally, both physically and virtually.

The event’s theme — Web3 and Beyond — draws industry experts and pioneers to a conference and exhibition from July 26-27 at Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

The summit will address topics such as the outlook on blockchain and digital assets, regulation, Web3, decentralized finance, enterprise blockchain, nonfungible tokens, gaming finance, utilizing blockchain for good causes and more. Speakers include Monetary Authority of Singapore chief fintech officer Sopnendu Mohanty, CTH Group founder and Atlas Technology Management CEO Raymond Yuan and United States Securities and Exchange Commission commissioner Hester Peirce.

“Singapore’s blockchain and digital assets industry, although nascent, is primed to grow as adoption and awareness of blockchain grows. It is encouraging to see that Singapore Blockchain Week has attracted a diverse and stellar lineup of industry leaders and speakers from all around the globe to congregate and exchange ideas, which will go a long way toward nurturing the local and regional blockchain ecosystem,” Chia Hock Lai, co-chairman of Blockchain Association Singapore, said.

Singapore Blockchain Week kicks off with a hackathon organized by Morpheus Labs and Huawei on July 25 that will showcase the finalists’ products. Other events during the week-long event include masterclasses, gala dinner, and a career fair organized by Blockchain Association Singapore, E2i, NTUC FairPrice Co-Operative and Global FinTech Institute.

Yuan, also an emeritus partner of Singapore Blockchain Week 2022, said, “The pandemic has accelerated the innovation and adoption of digital assets. The digital asset industry is increasingly institutionalized, and Web3 is unavoidable. A thriving digital asset ecosystem can only be built if all parties, including technological know-how leaders, can navigate, collaborate and prosper in this brave new world.”

Andy Koh, CEO of esports platform Gems said, “The blockchain technology ecosystem is booming with diversified applications, and esports 3.0 is one of them. GEMS is building a Web3 decentralized platform specifically designed to bring esports into the blockchain sector by integrating smart contracts among key stakeholders in the esports industry, unlocking the massive growth potential of the sharing economy.”
